Greetings from Dubrovnik! As some of you may know, I still “play” historian a few months a year, sailing around the world with Viking cruises. I’m spending May onboard Viking Jupiter, a ship I had the pleasure of sailing on her maiden voyage a few years back. She is one of my favorites.
Love your mad libs approach; extremely useful. For chapter summaries, I constantly emphasis the need for connectedness--a sense of story flow from one chapter to the other, with a clear arc of progression. Put it this way: No chapter is an island.
Brilliant stuff. Even as a practitioner (in love with book proposals!), there's lots to learn from here.
Thanks, Amy. Appreciate the compliment from a pro like you. Wondering your thoughts on chapter summaries… any of your own preferred tips/insight?
