Substack
I have so many conversations these days about Substack: who should be on it, how you should use it, etc.
Obviously, I’m a fan ;-)
I think there is so much benefit to this as a platform that’s part blog, part email newsletter, part zine, part chat, part… so much.
Do you know you can host podcasts over here now?
And if you’re an author or thought leader, there are customizable tiers of paid access points. I’ve seen writers get so clever (and comfortable) with how they interact with their readers, from offering access to behind-the-scenes of the writing process, to premium stories, to Q&As… the possibilities are as creative as you and your readers are.
I read about a writer just this morning who is publishing her latest book here in serial form and making more money publishing on Substack than she ever did (or would) going the traditional route!
Personally, I know I barely touch the surface of Substack’s potential (no worries, friends, I’m not pay-walling this newsletter), but I find it a really casual, useful space, and I hope you do too.
I write when I can, and I subscribe to a lot of other great substacks. Some of these I read on occasion, some I skim, and a few excellent ones, I never miss!
I wanted to share those favorites with you this week. Give these folks a follow and let me know what you think.
My Favorite Substacks (on writing, publishing, and culture)
In no particular order, these are the substacks that I always find time to read, no matter what!
My Second-Favorite Substacks (on writing and publishing)
These others are the ones I try to read as much as possible.
(but sometimes there’s just never enough time!)
What am I missing? What are some of your favorites?
